I love a good acai smoothie bowl but, I really dislike over paying for them. Naturally, I found a way to make my own at home for less.

The base of this method is frozen acaí juice, specifically the Sambazon Organic Acaí Juice. I am well aware there are frozen acaí pouch options in stores. The juice is less expensive, especially when it's on sale for $5 at Costco.

To Freeze Acaí, simply pour well shaken juice in silicone ice cube molds of choice. I personally don't own any and use popsicle molds instead. I freeze small batches at a time and place them in a freezer bag to use throughout a week or two. I leave about 2 to 3 cups of juice in the container to add to the blender with the frozen juice cubes. I also add collagen peptides to mix for some added protein but, you can omit that part if you prefer.

*Please note that the container itself suggests consuming the entire bottle within 10 days of opening it. I also suggest a high speed blender or a blender with a smoothie option. I use this one.

Ok, let's get to it...

INGREDIENTS:

PREP:

Freeze juice into ice cubes or popsicles.

Place about 1 cup of frozen juice cubes into a high speed blender along with about 1/4 cup of juice and a 1/2 scoop of colagen peptides. Blend. If too thick to blend, add a little more liquid to the mixture and blend until smooth and icy. Acaí melts fast. Start with a small amount of liquid and add more if needed. You want a thick consistency.

Once blended, pour mixture into a bowl. I highly recommend placing your bowl in the freezer for a few minutes before hand.

Top acaí smoothie with a sliced banana, 2 sliced strawberries, a spoonful of blueberries, a handful of granola and a drizzle of honey. These are just suggestions. Use whatever fruit you like.

If you find your bowl is melting after adding your toppings, you can place it in the freezer for 5 minutes before consuming. This usually works well for me.

That's it. Pretty simple stuff. The harderst part is finding your liquid ratio but, you can always add more juice cubes if the smoothie is looking too watery.

Enjoy!
